2004 was a great year. I saw many family and friends and did my share of traveling.
I have decided to travel a little farther in 2005 by accepting a position in the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan, which is in Asia.
I leave March 3rd for Philadelphia for training and then head to Kazakhstan on March 5th until May 2007. I will be leaving Kansas City around February 7th or 8th to visit my family before I leave the country.
This is something that I have researched for many months and am excited about my decision and the challenges that it brings.
Kazakhstan borders China and Russia. It was part of the Soviet Union until 1993. It is now considered Central Asia. The language that I will be learning is Russian. I will be working in the Health field. My primary duties will be working with severe issues in Kazakhstan, which are Alcoholism, smoking and adult trafficking.
My address from March 6th-May 12th is:
PO Box 376
Letters are welcomed and I will e-mail, as I am able.
After my three months of training I will be going to my site for two years of service. I am not sure where I will be going at this time.
I want to thank all of my family and friends for the support that I have received over the last several months. I could not have gotten here without you and I appreciate each of you.
Although I will be far away from you I will think about you often and the experiences that I have shared with you. I look forward to sharing my journey and new adventure with you.
