Today was one of our final days in Beijing for all of us. We decided to visit the Panjiayuan antique market to buy some gifts for friends. David and I started off at 8 AM from dorm 18 and finally made our way from Line 13 to the end of Line 10 at Jinsong. After walking for about 10 minutes we finally found the market as we left it from the previous visit back in January during the winter. This time around, temperatures were roaring at 25C to 30C. We started our plan of attack, we headed straight for the books and the literature area. Afterwards we slowly made our way row by row passing the antiques and eventually made our way into the main area.

I ended up purchasing two paintings, one of a warrior and the other a painting of a Chinese mountain scenery. I ended up lugging these two scrolls around for most of the day. David ended up buying two pots for 30 RMB a piece, and some other antique items he could give away as gifts to friends. Eeling and Jackie joined us at the market at around 11AM, they were surprised to see how busy the place was.

The first stop of course were the Chinese paintings and calligraphy. Afterwards we split off and wandered around the various locations. I personally had my eye on some walnuts for juggling in one's own hands. It was an old Beijing habit of exercising your fingers, I figured it to be a pretty good gift for people back home.

By the end of the day, I did not purchase the walnuts or anything else, I ended up with the two paintings I had acquired earlier in the day as gifts for family members. David and I left early as we were pretty tired and had to get ready for our trip tomorrow to Yunnan. So we left Jackie and Eeling at the market and took an unlicensed taxi back to the subway station as we were lazy from the summer heat.
