Where I stayed
For our field trip we went to the Shanghai Zoo. Like previous field trips, it was a bit of a mess because most of the time no one knew what was going on. I was assigned to Aston and we were going to spend most of the day at the zoo and then go back for nap time. I was really excited for the kids because they made a zoo the day before with pictures on a collage. We talked about our favorite animals but it wasn't the same as seeing the animals in real life.
After the exciting bus ride where we pointed out cars and trucks...my kid's favorite thing...we waited around for what seemed like an eternity with my class for the tickets. Without direction of what to do next, I took the parents and children forward only to be turned around by Morgan to head the opposite way. We spent a long time looking at the monkeys. Each monkey was a new adventure to see what they were doing
Other animals we saw at the zoo were elephants, zebras, giraffes, a lion, a tiger, and many more. We couldn't see all of the animals but every animal we saw the children were amazed.
The day after the zoo we sang a song in my class.
"We went to the zoo, we went to the zoo
Hi-ho the derry oh! We went to the zoo.
We saw a monkey and we saw Valentina too."
The kids are so funny because they would add in new animals and their names to the song.
The pictures are what makes this blog and not the story. It was a great experience and 2 weeks later the children are still talking about it.
This blog also has pictures from my neighborhood as I walked to the gym as well as pictures from the English class I teach after school on Wednesdays.
My students also decorated eggs for Easter the day after the zoo and they were amazed at how they could roll the egg and it would change colors. The little things we miss as kids.
