Where I stayed
there were some beer drinking competions where the foreign teachers raced each other and then the Chinese staff did. the Chinese staff dont really drink so watching them downing beer was pretty funny. Ben won the foreigner comp, and got some speakers!
the food was quite meat based so the table with 5 vegetarians on didn't really have much to eat so we drank instead. there were a few more completions and i won a laptop fan thing, not sure how but still i won it
after the meal the Chinese staff went home but most of the foreign staff stayed out and we had to quickly leave the restaurant as we had broken quite alto of glasses during the evening....
we had 5 boxes of beer with us and toilet seat covers round our necks and off we went into the night. the boxes of beer didn't really make in as someone fell down with the boxes.... but we had a mission to get to the bar where the others were so we somehow walked to the bar. everything was going smoothly then all of a sudden we were in the bathroom where heather was bleeding into the sink, she had fallen onto a bottle and had cut her wrist. so we all went to the hospital where she had to stay over night. me Ben and cat went to get her in the morning and everything was OK, just a few stitches.
so for us Christmas started with arts and crafts! heather had a party at her house on Xmas eve, and so we made a few games, pin the Hannukia on the rabbi, and neicermen (sp) pinyaters (sp)!
all the foreign teachers came round heathers and we had food and played the awesome games we made. turns out the pinyaters were pretty difficult to break but eventually they broke and everyone got the Chinese sweets that were things like corn flavored marshmallows....mmmm.
then on Christmas day me and Ben opened our presents and made Xmas dinner! the best we could do in china anyway and it turned out pretty good! then we spoke to Ben's family on line for a bit which was good, Joe and Ruth look so much older
we had been given so many gifts by the students that we had allot of xmas chocolates to eat :D i was given 4 wuxi dolls in frames plus a bracelet and a mini framed wuxi doll from one student, it was amazing!
then we went out for a Xmas day drive which was freezing!!! so we went back home and watched a Xmas film. good times!
