Aren't you all lucky! Two entries in one weekend! I must be feeling pretty motivated! I guess I wanted to fill you all in on my great day before too much time passed.

Today I had a very fun filled day. I took a day trip with 4 other teachers to Paos National Park and to La Paz Waterfalls. We started the day bright and early with a 6:15am pick up in Escazu. From there we headed through San Jose and further north to Dako Estates. This is a coffee estate where we were able to eat breakfast and have some yummy coffee to wake us up and get us going. Then we had a tour of the coffee estate. This is where the grow the coffee beans and process them all the way to the stage of being ready for roasting. They don't roast them there, they send them off to places in Europe and the US where they roast them too their liking. We were able to see how they do the whole process! Learned just how much work goes into preparing that yummy cup of coffee I have every morning! After walking around with our tour we got to sample some more coffee and even some chocolate covered coffee beans! YUMMY!

After we finished up with our coffee we headed to Poas National Park. This is where there is an active volcano that you can see the crater in the middle. It is an active volcano in the sense that it still has sulfuric smoke coming out of it. No hot lava flowing out of it or anything. We were VERY lucky to be able to see it on such a clear day. It can be very tough to see some days because of cloud cover. We got some nice clear views and were able to snap some good pics! From there we went on a little hike on a trail to a lake made in a crater I believe. We walked through this pretty eerie forest before getting to a clearing and seeing the lake. Another beautiful sight. We had the sun shinning on us when we were there. After we had soaked in all the sights at the National Park we headed to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. This was quite the stop. It had a little bit of everything. It had a bird park, butterfly garden, monkeys, big cats, frogs, snakes, a yummy lunch and BEAUTIFUL waterfalls. We were able to get up close with the birds and butterflies. I was even able to hold a toucan! So cool! The highlight of La Paz was definitely the waterfalls. Unfortunately it did start raining as we were headed toward them but I guess it only added to the atmosphere as we were walking through rainforest and it was raining! We saw a couple different waterfalls, some up close. They were so gorgeous! Everything around it was also so green and lush! A little different then the forests of MN! After visiting the waterfalls we headed back to our bus for our ride home. We had a fun filled day and we were all tired when we got home.

It was nice getting out seeing some new things! It was my first time at a volcano....check that off the bucket list :) So after a packed weekend I guess I am ready to head back to school tomorrow for another week! Enjoy the last week of September! Get ready October will be here soon!

Hasta Luego!
