So the soda - its so fabulous especially cold ! Tastes so much less artificial than other fizzy drinks . We visit the Jewish synagogue built in the 1500s - simple and unremarkable apart from the lovely Chinese tiles and the ceiling tiles but interesting to visit none the less . We tuk tuk back to the nets area and stop at a shack where they grill tiger prawns and a whole white fish rubbed with masala for us that is so fresh with some chips fried with curry leaves and a little turmeric. Its blissful - would just have loved a glass of wine with it . We have only had alcohol on 5 occasions until now - its so hard to find restaurants that serve it and bars are not readily available in many areas . Its also so expensive to drink here -apart from local beer all the restaurants or hotels that do serve alcohol charge more than u k prices ! Its been good in many ways though . The 1st of the month in kerala is a dry day to stop people blowing all their wages on booze ! So today we decide we Will treat ourselves to dinner and wine in a lovely hotel restaurant called malabar . The wine is good ! 20 pounds good ! We dine on lebab and fresh tuna salad to start followed by a prawns with fish curry with whole pieces of coconut and curry leaves and a trio of local fish mahi mahi , tiger fish and sea bral each with a different dressing . Pudding was good too chocolate fondant with yogurt ice cream and a sort of fruit pudding with coconut sorbet . Very posh meal and expensive for here . We stroll back to our lovely place to sleep and rise early for a quick wonderful last breakfast at secret garden before catching the train to Calicut where we Will be met by a driver to take us to Blooms in Wyanad which is a stunning area of tea coffee and spice plantations , elephants and waterfalls. Two nights then on to a national park called bandipur for safari ! We are so lucky . Considering slowing down the blog soon so we can switch off even more to have some real chill time !
