Where I stayed
Texas Plume Austin Texas
To explain. Academy is a terrific department store for sports and outdoors, and Walburg is a small town about 30 miles north of here. More on that later.
Mary Sue and Lona went shopping, yes again!! This time it was Walmart, Bob and I stayed home working on the next part of our journey to Florida. When they came home Bob drove us down the road to Academy where Lona got the inevitable pair of shoes! I bought some shorts and a pair of casual shoes.
We came back and relaxed for an hour or two until 7pm when off we went to Walburg. There has been a fair bit of German immigration around this part of Texas over the years and although small Walburg is town with Germanic influence. They have a Biergarton, open air this time of the year, 7pm when we left it was still 99 F. Big open sided tent with a concrete dance floor at one end and a German style oompah band playing Polka music as well as popular Texas Country & Western Two Steps and other local stuff. Plenty of local and imported beer, sausage and sauerkraut meals picnic bench type tables and benches but fabulous atmosphere with plenty of clap alongs, hootin an hollerin Texas style.
Shame that just as we got there I was testing my video camera, only to find it has a seemingly permanent gremlin. In other words, Stuffed.
Wonderful fun night again, got home at 11.30 pm and everyone else has collapsed into bed.
Sorry no photo's again, I will catch up with some soon but still using Mary Sue's computer and I have to download some pics on to a memory stick to transfer them.

Hi guys
It looks like you're having a great trip. I envy ya's. Looking forward to seeing you here in Briton. Prepare your selves for the worst summer ever, though! I've onle managed to sail the boat twice so far. It works out, that with all the money I've spent for maintanance on the boat this year, it has so far cost four thousand pounds a sail.
Loadsa love, take care. wayne & julia.
