Final day: the Long Hauler's ceremony. We all met back at the Bristol Motor Speedway this morning at 8:30am for a final 'meet'. Thank you's to sponsors and several people who helped those broken along the way. A few drawings and a group picture. On our way out we each received a really cool
Hot Rod Power Tour metal sign about 16x20", a hat and some other small stuff. They were filming people's "Long Hauler Story", so I told them about the hood debacle.
After leaving Bristol, we headed for Sevierville, TN with Gary and Jane Campbell following along,
for the Floyd Garret Muscle Car Museum. We met Floyd at the Chevy Vette Fest last November and he said "whenever you're in Tennessee..." So we stopped by and said hello. He had quite a few very valuable cars there. Sevierville is very much like Branson, MO with all the entertainment and tourist stuff going on. It was very near Dollywood, which I would have not have objected going to for the slim chance of meeting Dolly Parton and getting a picture with her. Not big into Country music, but I really admire that lady.
After stopping for lunch at the Cracker Barrel (hey, good eats down here) we headed towards home.
We finally decided to call it a day in Marion, IL, right next to Carbondale. Got an amazing room
at the Comfort Suites hotel. May sleep in a bit tomorrow and then go for the final stretch. It will be nice to get home and see our dogs again, but of course, we'll miss the adventure of the past week.
Power Tour starts in Bristol next June 12th, so mark your calendars and keep watch on the Hot Rod website for route info. Can't wait!
Thank you to all who've been following along. Be sure to get the full length dvd for the whole story.
