Today we went to the Historical Treasures Museum located in the Pecherska Lavra. We took the bus to get there. On the weekends, the busses are pretty packed. It cost 3 grivna for both of us to ride. A little old lady walks up and down the bus collecting fares. You have to pay to get into the monastary grounds and then pay again to get into the museum. Right now the Orthodox Christians are fasting, but they can eat honey. There were honey vendors on the grounds of the monastary on what seemed like at least a quarter of a mile. Bees and tourists were everywhere. The museum was interesting and has ancient jewelry found in or made in Ukraine. Some of it is around 2500 years old! Alot of the jewelry is well crafted and some has great detail work. One of my favorites was a piece that had small human figurines and even these figurines were wearing jewelry. There were many old swords with gold handles. We tried to catch the bus back, but they were so packed, literally not another person could fit in. We walked to a metro station and took the metro back. On the way to the metro I found a plug adapter at a small kiosk at a road underpass. We forgot to pack our plug adapter to recharge the PSP. I was trying to explain to the guy what I needed in Russian, but he spoke English. The adapter cost 8 grivna or one dollar. Later we ate at Patio Restaurant again. I listened to a band at Independence Square at night. It started to get a little chilly and I estimate the temperature fell to the 50's. - Arno
