Andres Carne de Rez is a grill / dance / art / party place an hour outside of Bogotá.  We had heard about Andres Carne previously.  Columbia´s own Shakira claims it to be the centre of party and best the place to shake it - and her hips don´t lie.  The legend lived up to the hype; it was the coolest restaurant we have ever been too.  While really hard to capture the environment, it is similar to Big Bad Johns but with more class, a ridiculously long menu, amazing steak, bar and restaurant the size of a football field, a DJ, live band, crazy constumed people wandering around, and a great atmosphere.  The pictures really don't do it justice but if you have the chance to visit, take it.  It was a bit expensive - a bottle of wine, a few appetizers, bottled water, and more delicious grilled meat then we could eat came to a budget shattering $40...Luckily we had a nice gift from Arik´s brother Dustin before leaving so we'll put some of his gift towards eating at the coolest restaurant ever.  Thanks D-bro!

On Sunday we woke up to check-out some more of historic Bogotá.  First stop was the Donancion Botero (Botero Donation) which displayed more of his FAT art and many other mega famous artists work, such as: Chagall, Picasso, Renoir, and Monet.
A quick pit stop at Colombia's Starbucks, Juan Valdez Café, confirmed why we've seen not a single Starbucks in Colombia.  The coffee was better, ¼ the price, and the atmosphere very nice.

After proper caffination we stopped at the National Police Museum (no pics as our camera died).  The highlight of the tour is a floor dedicated entirely to Mr. Cocaine, Pablo Escobar.  The guide explained some of his friends methods of mayhem, including the human neck tie (tongue pulled out through throat) and the fillet of fish (slicing the abdomen like gills).  Pablo and his #2 man were the 6th and 7th richest people in the world at the height of their game.  Even after surrendering to the police the first time, his jail was more like a spa with pools, Jacuzzis, private chef, and even a brothel.  After his capture the government seized very little of his wealth.  His son and wife are now living in Argentina.  Several of his partners in crime are now out of jail and living in the United States.

We cruised the downtown a bit longer before heading to the bus terminal to start our amazing race to Ecuador.

Arik:  I really liked Bogota.  Many people we met liked Medellin a lot, enough to stay weeks at a time.  Medellin was almost too nice.  Bogota is like the big, dirty, more complex big brother to Medellin.  More things to see, more attitude, and of course close to Andres Carne!
