Where I stayed
I enquired what was going on because I thought gambling was illegal in Utah. It turns out that the casino is actually in Nevada, but the parking lot in front is Utah!
Martin had identified that the one front wheel was wearing unevenly, so we found a tyre shop and took the car in to get the balance and alignment checked. However, on taking off the wheel, we discovered that the bearing was loose inside the hub, so the wheel was shaking as we went along. We managed to get the hub packed out with a jubilee clip, which isnt ideal, but was all that we could identify to solve the problem
Drove back along the same road we'd gone out on, turning South to go through the area known as Skull Valley. Managed to follow the original Lincoln Highway for part of its length. That was the first cross America highway ever built, so its good to have an old car on an old road. managed to find a place called Clover - we wanted to take a photo of Stanley in Clover, but they didnt have a town sign! Headed north again towards Salt Lake City and got to the hotel mid afternoon. While I was on the phone, Martin did the daily car checks, and found that the jubilee clip hadnt lasted well. So we took the car to Tire World, where we discussed the problem and pulled the front wheel apart. So Stanley is now spending the night in their garage, while they sort out just how to pack out the hub, or else get an oversized bearing. I'm sure Stanley appreciated all the attention from Joe, Bob, Ryan, Jesse and Stephanie at Tyre World, but we dont want to have to do this sort of exercise too often. So omorrow will be spent sightseeing in SLC, waiting for the call from Tyre World, telling us that all our problems have been fixed!

Whatever the problem the work done in Wendover this morning helped us to get to Salt Lake City where hopefully we can find a solution.My engineering education with the Bedford boys tells me that an engineering solution is needed rather than a fitting one.We shall see what tomorrow brings.Time for pelvic floor exercises me thinks.
So we have moved from tranquility to the hustle and bustle of a city. We are in a motel (Days Inn again - $50 per night for 3rd night running!) quite close to centre and thankfully within walking distance of TRAX,the city train system.The upside of our situation being that we have again got Stanley safe and hopefully in a position to be fixed and we are able to continue our journey in terms of exploring our surroundings.Roger and his SatNav system guided me through some fairly aggressive traffic straight to the door.What a blessing that machine (and its "but I've only had four courses and now they're closing the food counters-what sort of place is this?" operator) has been.
Buit again going off the Interstate road system leads you on perfectly adequate road surfaces into time-stands-still farming and rural landscapes.All this in a riot of autumn colours
Thank you Sara for the eye-in -the -sky information.I looked for a model Cat machine for a certain person but they were not as good as are available in UK and they would not let me take a real one home.
Found the Lincoln Highway today!

in case anyone else is interested. But it raises a question: surely everything is visible if you have a powerful telescopic lens?
