Up at 5.45.Michael arrived just after 6.30 and drove downtown to Customs office ready for 7.30 opening. They opened at 8.00 but we were first in line. No great problem in clearing car after official (Ta who was Vietnamese. Michael served in V and they seemed to get on fine. I didn't ask) spoke with Cali America. He explained to them that I did not need to be there as I had given P of A. In fact they should have been there. I need to sort them out. Went back via Cali America and reported position. Logan not there. Went off to pick up trailer from John Delane (owns and races Tyrells – worth a few bob). Trailer too small. Leisurely drive around environs – liked McCarthur area. Along the way Michael escorted a bewildered looking bloke who had got out of his parents car and walked off, back to his home. Very caring man. Lunch by harbour watching sea lion and pelicans. Off to U-Haul to hire trailer. Had to nip up to shop to buy a receiver (detachable tow ball) of correct size. Waiting for car to arrive at warehouse .Got there about 2.00 ish and waited a bit. Looked after by Paul (Philippino borne in Nigeria) and Ash ( a Kiwi) .Container dully arrived. Opened up and car fine. Broken rear door handle and wheels secured by wooden blocks which were a devil to remove. Eventually towed them out by forklift. Were nailed in by a giant. Pulled car out – started first time and drove it on to trailer. Off to meet Scott Renner. Another racer and nice bloke. Obviously competent mechanically. Had pleasant meal of Tacos with him and his fellow Jowett buddy James.
