We've discovered the weather here can be pretty cold, windy, damp and generally appalling and doesn't agree with me as most houses do not have central heating and apparently the electricity & gas bills here are sky high, but on a good day it's hard to beat the weather here. I wouldn't call it hot, but I don't need two jackets. The sky is really blue with a bright sun against the bay and hills. We have recently taken advantage of a couple of these nice days by wandering around the city some.

A couple of days ago we took the cable car up to the botanic gardens and then wandered down to the city. Today, we went to a local Indian festival, the Dwali Festival of Lights, that was actually quite a big event. There was lots of Indian dancing on a couple of different stages, tons of pretty reasonably priced tasty Indian food, some things for sale and a spice display. And the event was free! We then found a poster for a quilt display in the area as well. Something I felt the need to go and see (and Aron didn't seem to mind). We also spent some time walking around the waterfront between the Arena and Te Papa. We discovered a nice gelato place under the Frank Kitts Park. Yum. It seems very popular to get gelato and stroll along the waterfront on nice days here.
