This is up to day more or less
May 20 2006
Today was our last day in Bilbao so we went and visited The Guggenheim Bilbao and Santiago Caltrava's violin Bow Bridge. The weather was bad off and on all, it would sprinkle for 30 seconds then it would just stop for like 5 minutes. The Guggenheim was very interesting to say the least. The exterior was one of those buildings like Gaudi's buildings that you need to see in person to truly grasp the buildings size and magnificence, so to speak. Caltrava's bridge is the coolest thing of all time's cause of the structure of it, and the bridge's floor was constructed with glass panels. After that we went to Michael's building which was really cool the walls were either constructed out of concrete, glass, or core-ten steel. Then we left there to go to Salamanca. We didn't really do a lot when we arrived in Salamanca because we arrived late.
May 21 2006
We were in Salamanca today; we went and visited the Convento de San Esteban, which was amazing. I can't believe how ornate some of these buildings are, the craftsmanship is unbelievable. I think that there should be more buildings built like this now a days, but it would be too expensive to do it. We are staying in an old dormitory of one of the colleges, the place is cool, some of the food is good, but I don't know how well I'm likin the lack of breakfast so far. Tomorrow we're leaving Salamanca and going to Oporto, Portugal.
May 22 2006
We left for Oporto this morning, Oporto is a pretty town, a little dirty, but what are you goin to do, nothing's prefect. We visited The Se do Porto, one of the churches there, we didn't go inside, we just looked at it from the exterior. Wile we were walking around we went to both of my buildings the Cafe do Gais, and the Bares do Maginal Gais. The bridge that was next to both of my buildings, Ponte Luis I was designed by the same guy that did the Eiffel tower. We're going to stay here for the next two days or so.
May 23-24 2006
We're spending all day here; we went and visited Casa da Camara, The architecture school, the Casa de Musica, and the Porto tower. All of those were astounding; the sculptures on the tower were unbelievable cause of the detail and their overall size, the Casa de Musica is, well amazing for the lack of a better word. The Casa da Camara was amazing just cause of the sheer fact that it was real minimalistic. Oh yea we also visited a laundry facility that was designed by the architect that was supposed to guide us around the city, who was detained by a business call, so sent one of his peons to guide us. Today we also left to go to Lisbon, and we're going to be there till the 26th.
May 25 2006
Oporto works while Lisbon party's; well that's what the book said but none of us made it cause we walked all over the city by the time we got home we all passed cold out. There is too much stuff o explain about today, so the best way to know what we did today is to look at all the pictures we took. We visited the knowledge pavilion, in addition to all the photos in the Lisbon folder.
May 26 2006
We left Lisbon today to go to Mertola; as son as we got there we all changed into our swimming suits and went down to the river, where there was a dock that was 9 feet above the river. We kept jumping in it for like 3 hours. I now have a giant bruise on my ass from it, because I would land on my left side every time. Then we went and ate dinner at the adjoining restaurant which was amazing, that was the best food that I had had so far.
May 27 2006
Well we left Mertola today to go to our host families in Seville. My mother is the sweetest thing in the world; I think I'm really going to like it. She doesn't speak any English, so Josh and I have to get together to try and decipher what she's saying. Sometimes it works. Met a bunch of girls from tech today, and went and hung out with them that night. There a lot of Americans here.
May 28 2006
We walked around Seville today trying to get orientated with the city; we went to the cathedral here, which is the 3rd largest cathedral in the world. I accidentally for got my camera so I'm going to have to get the photo's from someone else.
May 29 2006
We started classes today; we got out projects, and meet our other professor here. He seems like a really cool guy. I think we get paper assignments on Wednesday.
May 30, 2006
Today we say a 500 year old dead guy, he wasn't very lively, and we went and visited our site. It was a little rainy today.
