Where I stayed
Hotel Cidade do Bauru
Sao Paolo
10-17-2012 – Bauru (Hotel Cidade do Bauru); 90,682 Highways of the First World
Sugar cane fields and cows covered the roadside, as we began our journey towards Sao Paulo today. We crossed into the State of Sao Paulo at Tres Lagoas, where we had lunch at a japanese/brazilian restaurant. We also checked out prices for a new rear tire. We were better off purchasing it in Sao Paulo because the taxes are less, so we crossed the large bridge that creates a dam on the river, and therefore, Tres Lagoas. Beautiful and larger than I was expecting, we crossed the three lakes and bridge into what seemed a different era of time, because the roads turned into freeways. Well maintained freeways with double lanes, and for this reason, several tolls or, "Pesagem." It seemed as if there were tolls every 20 minutes on Hwy 300, and motorcycles were not free, so far. We arrived in Bauru to find that most hotels were booked? However, we found one in the center of town, walked on the streets, watched some Capoeira in a studio and had a nice dinner. Tomorrow we will arrive to Sao Paulo and finally meet the man we've been emailing with, and get our shock fixed and a new tire. This has been a really long journey since first stopping in at the BMW dealership in Manuas. Hopefully all the parts and resources are there to do the job....I’m more anxious about navigating the largest city I’ve ever been to.
