Some background...
I am a 32 year old recent divorcee. I just went back to school to get my Master's in International Studies. This involved me and my dog, Banjo, moving in with my parents. I mean, we do what we have to, right? Thankfully, they have been beyond supportive, and Banjo and I are adjusting well. Let me amend that. Banjo is adjusting well; I have to take Econ 650 this semester.

I am going to Hawaii with the family for a week for my sister's graduation. I get back on a Tuesday. The following Saturday (that's right... only 4 days to recover from jetlag and wash all my crap!), I will be going to France for a month to work on my French language skills. Laura is then flying over and we are meeting up to travel around Scotland, England, and Paris.

There are a million things running through my mind as I prepare for my travels in May and June. Like, how will I fit all my makeup when we are backpacking around Europe?? Is it a literal backpack, or can I bring a suitcase? Should we rent a car (so I can keep my belongings with me from the previous month) or ship my suitcase home and travel via rail?

How much money will all this cost?

Won't I miss my dog?

Should I bring a computer or tablet?

When should I start booking my flights and hostel stays?

Am I going to be raped and murdered in some out of the way, ramshackle, alley next to the hostel? I am guessing no. I am not the first college student to try and travel on the  cheap. I hope.

All the questions become whispers in the back of my mind as I think of all the things I will see, the people I will meet, and the fun I will have. That trumps all!

Happy reading!
