I just got into Tahoe yesterday. I decided to take the train from Martinez and spare my poor little (Ghetto) Integra the struggle of chugging up to the mountains. I must say that the train is a lost form of travel. I loved it. It was beautiful scenery and I was fortunate enough to sit next a wonderful lady from the Philippines named Ruby who had the most delightful disposition, we told each other our life stories the entire way to Reno (6 hours). Here's a recap of my last few weeks in the U.S.:

    I graduated college! I am now the proud owner of a Bachelors in Economics!

    The last couple weeks have been really nice. I cant lie, that was a little scarey and uncomfortable but I had a really nice birthday thanks to my friends.
Fourth of July I got all bundled up, hopped on the motorcycle with Ankush and headed up hwy 1 to San Francisco. It was an absolutely beautiful ride (a bit uncomfortable though!) We stopped in half moon bay at the Half moon Bay Brewing Co and had some great beer and pumpkin crab bisque to warm us up from our frigid ride. Then it was on to SF for more beer drinking, a yummy Italian dinner in Little Italy and fireworks to follow.

I decided on the way back from SF that I would join my friends on their camping trip in the desert. So July 5th I headed to the famous desert that holds "Burning Man" to experience a teeny tiny extension called "Fourth of Juplaya". Camping in the desert is not for sissies. It was nothing like regular car camping next to a lake that has nice shady trees, restrooms, showers and water spouts. Try 100 degree weather, absolutely no shade other than what you create yourself, no water, literally desert conditions. It was a bit brutal.
Aside from these conditions, I surprised my self and had a very enjoyable time. My friend Rick has so much equipment to bring out there, he has an awesome sound system that provided bumpin music the entire time, he has domes to be built, yurts, a whole kitchen set up, and pretty much everyone else had something to contribute for our enjoyment. I of course took over the kitchen as my contribution.

    After my desert adventure I headed home for the last week to concord to spend time with my family. I got to go to valley springs and see my parent's new house which they will be living in soon (this includes three new baby goats and alpacas on the way!) We had a garage sale this last weekend too, Ankush came up to visit, and we sold as much of our old crap as we could!

    All in all, a great time. Now I am in Tahoe for a week spending time with dad and relaxing before I have to face packing for a year in China! I have 16 days until I leave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
