Get up at 7am, had our free breakfast and head to the dock to catch the boat over to Thailand. Best one yet, super laid back, no hassle, easy! We get our 15 day visa stamped and we are through into Thailand. We jump in a tuk tuk headed for the bus station and watch another tuk tuk drive straight through parked motorbikes and up a wall. The driver appears drunk and we joke with some Argentinians as if imagining it was our tuk tuk. It is, and we are made to transfer into it. Fortunately we are safe and soon on the local bus to Chiang Rai for 65 baht (1.30, cheaper than Laos instantly).

We get lost trying to gain our bearings and head to Lonely Planets highly recommended Easy House. Turns out it appears closed down but we meet an Israeli guy who recommends up the place he is staying at. At 300 baht it is the cheapest place in town, Starbright Hotel. Very clean and small inspired Japanese style rooms with our own robes. We eat at a local thai restaurant for lunch and have an inexpensive duck noodle soup, which was delicious.

That evening there was a large thunder storm with heavy rain and lightening. We decide after walking around the market, to buy a takeaway pizza and watch a film in our room out of the nasty weather.
