This weekend Sarah, Jenna, and I went on a trip to Brussels and Amsterdam. It's amazing how easy it is to just hop on a plane and in a couple of hours you're in another country. We left from Cork on Thursday and took the four hour bus ride to Dublin to get on our plane to Brussels. Getting from the airport to our hostel was very interesting, the tram we had to take was a bit terrifying at 9 at night in a city we didn't know. We eventually made it to our hostel which was in an amazing location, it was right around the corner from Grand Place which was an amazing sight and probably my favorite thing about Brussels.

After dropping our things off at our hostel we decided to get a drink and chose a pub in Grand Place which was medieval themed, they even had a stuffed horse. The pub was really cool and different from anywhere I've been before. Sarah and I got Barbar beer which is flavored with honey and was really good. The next day we went to Amsterdam, stayed for 2 nights which I'll talk about in my next entry. Then on Sunday we went back to Brussels and had one more day there. We went to Les Galeries Saint Hubert which is like a shopping center and there are a lot of chocolate shop there, which all looked amazing. We stopped and got some waffles as a snack, I had mine with chocolate and strawberries and it was delicious.

After that we finally caved and went to a Belgian chocolate shop to get some gifts from family and of course to get some chocolate for ourselves. The shop had so many things I wanted to buy, but we all decided to get a box of truffles which I ate all that night. Our last stop in Brussels was to Maneken de Pis, which is a staute of a peeing boy, there are a lot of legends explaining the statues significance. The statue is also dressed in costumes several times each week, the wardrobe consists of several hundred different costumes. The next day we made it back to the airport and went back to Cork, which we all were more than happy to return to.
