HI all after the third world old of Syria which was lovely and cheap we hit Jodan which is a bit cleaner and wealthier lookin but is a damned sight more expensive.
We had only 5 days in Jodan first stop was a shop and KFC in Amman (big highlight for Ants) then we pushed on to Mt Nebo the place of Moses's death and the amazing views over the dead sea and into the west bank. Didn't stay there long was getting late in the day and bloody hot!!! Camped that night on a hill a bit down from Mt Nebo with amazing views of the deas sea and the border of jordan and israel.s was one of the trip highlights for me sunsetting over deadsea and seeing the lights on jerusalum, jehrico etc. We sleeped in our bags under the stars amzing setting but the wind picked up over night and wilst not too cold thought we would be blown off mt top.
Next morn we went for a swim in dead sea ........ something to experience but not that pleasent.....so so so so salty stun the eyes and anything raw or cut allot!! the floating was cool but the salt and the mud and the heat made for a rough experience. We had a bit of a missionm getting to the sea cos rads were closed apparntly the king was swimming or something, so we were late getting to wadi musa but a nice hotle with a pool awaited us there so all was good.
Wadi Musa is the town beside Petra the most amazing ruins site sofar. Long day climbing the mountains to see old ruins followed by a swim in the pool.
Next day drive to Wadi Rum in the desert for a 4WD trip round Lawrence of Arabia's old haunts - ride turned a bit adventurous when the wheel almost fell over due to only 3 nuts holding it on, the rest had disappeared. So we squished into the other jeeps and took off for some fun among the sand dunes and a dust hot dive back to the truck. Camping in the desert that night which was fun. Extra fibre in our dinner due to the fricken sand and a lesson in digging the tuck out of a sandpit the next morning.
Onwards to Aqaba which was very picturesuqe and also duty-free - woohoo! Stockd up the the alcoholic beverages and a long walk to drive and find a beach to swim on (they're all private beaches owned by the hotels so we ended up forking out for some swim-time). Quick roadside meal then off to catch the overnight ferry to Dahab, Egpyt. Bit of shit ferry so nothing more to say about that.
Bring on Dahab!
More later.
