The day started off with an indulging breakfast at the Peabody Hotel, home of a couple of ducks that are herded into hotel lobby everyday for a nice swim in the fountain.
Then commenced the long drive to Kentucky, the home of bourbon (and the Derby).
First stop Milan, to answer the question of whether Melbourne has better coffee than Milan. Question remained unanswered, as we couldnt find any coffee in Milan, Tennessee. Then we stopped in Paris (Tn) for lunch, under the Eiffel Tower. Nice enough, but we prefer the original!
But the drive really improved as soon as we crossed into Kentucky. The countryside changed into green rolling hills, tobacco drying in the sheds, wheat, maize and yellowing crops. Gorgeous.
Toby coped fairly well with the 10 hour drive- we didn't make it as far as we planned but that should work in our favor now, as the distilleries are closer to Bardstown than Louisville.
