So after yesterday's overcast skies, today dawned to a cloudless blue skies. After a gourmet birthday breakfast of rice crispies and orange juice, we set off for supplies, and hiked up Sulphur Mountain. Well only up to the bottom of the gondola ride, but still past the impressive Fairmont Banff Springs (the hotel that started it all) and the fabled Banff Springs golf course. The panoramas from the summit were breathtaking, and the camera could not do them justice.

We kept hiking around Banff, until Toby got sick of the backpack, his parents got too tired, and it was time for an afternoon cool off in the pool.

Dinner was fantastic, a special meal in an old hunting lodge called Storm Mountain Lodge. Baked Brie, mountain lamb, and bison. Banff may be overtouristed, but it is spectacular, and a must-visit.

Today's famous Canadian is Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister from 1896-1911. Don't know what he did for Canada, but he obviously did enough to get his face on the five dollar note.
