After chatting to the lady at the counter we had a better idea of the snowboarding options and decided to rather sign up for an evening session since it was already quite late in the day
. We also asked about the free horse and wagon rides and the sled on rails ride. We realized however that because of the snowfall everything was in a kind of flux. It appears to have be one of the first big snows of the season so they were expecting a lot of people to arrive. They were also clearing the rails for the roller coaster sled rides and testing it so it wasn't open and the pond hasn't properly iced over yet so there wasn't ice skating available - ahhhh. Anyway we decided to walk through the town and look at the shops. There are so many Boxing week sales on and we saw some lovely pressies in the Old Stanton Store. By this stage Craig, Tanya and Orin had arrived and were having lunch in the Greek restuarant. We joined them and were glad to see that Orin was feeling better. We enjoyed lunch together and then went back to the room for afternoon naps. Orin and Anton played with Orin's new Christmas train a little before naps.
After naps Craig and Tanya decided to take Orin to the doctor in Collingwood to get checked out so they left before 4. We hung around a bit and saw that it was still snowing outside so we decided to rather leave our snowboarding debut to tomorrow morning where we'd get the most out of the day.
We went out to MJ Byrnes, an Irish pub opposite our hotel for a pre dinner drink. We had a good chat and enjoyed a rerun of the 1992 World Series baseball when the Toronto Blue Jays, beat the Atlanta Braves. Tess explained how the game worked having a strong family background in baseball. We wandered around the village looking for a place to eat. We decided that the pub was best, so we headed back for a Caesar salad and French onion soup. As we finished up, mom and dad Marsh arrived after delayed flights and having to drive up other snow from Toronto. It was really great to see them after so long away from home. The rest of the evening we spent catching up.
We had a great sleep in and when we opened our curtains we saw it was snowing outside. Proper snow! We watched as the snow shovellers worked hard to scoop away the paths so people could walk through the town and we saw people heading to the slopes with skis and snowboards in hand. Craig had left early to go and fetch Tanya and Orin so we had a lazy morning enjoying breakfast and a super shower. We have really started to appreciate a hot and hard shower after trying out so many different showers during our travels. Our plan for the day was to find out about snowboarding and what else we should do while we are here. So we layered out and headed into the snowy streets. Our first stop was the activity centre.
