After a long flight we arrived in New York airport at around 06:00. We then had a wait until 10:00 to catch our connecting flight to Toronto. The airport was decorated beautifully for Christmas and we started feeling the festive cheer. We enjoyed browsing in the shops and getting a last few items before jumping onto the plane.
We arrived in Toronto at lunchtime and walked through the gates to see Craig waiting for us. How wonderful. We grabbed some sarmies and jumped into the car heading for Collingwood. The drive was great fun with catching up with Craig and enjoying the snowy landscape. The farm houses dusted in snow are just delightful. Straight off the cover of an old fashioned chocolate box.
We arrived at Tanya's mom's house at around 15:00 and were warmly greeted by the family. Orin even had his jingle bells ready and tinkling when we walked in the door. So sweet.
There was a fire lit in the lounge next to our room and Marie made us the nicest cup of hot chocolate when we arrived. We felt very spoilt and very welcome. It was amazing to see Orin all grown up into a little boy. He almost instantly took to Anton playing trains and showing him the drums. We enjoyed the afternoon settling in and then it was dinner time. Homemade pizzas were on the menu and we had a great time sitting with the family and enjoying pizza and salads. Then it was on with the jackets and boots and off to church. The church is small and cosy and the pastor held a lovely service to welcome in Christmas. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Crunching in the snow to and from the car was also a highlight, especially for Tess!
Back home we sat down to homemade cookies and tea and finished off the evening with a game of Pictionary. Orin's cousin Elijah was the dedicated dice thrower and threw the most sixes we'd ever seen. It was the perfect way to end off the day. After everyone had headed to bed we put on our elf hats and did some pressie wrapping, tucking them under the Christmas tree before heading to bed. We can't wait for our first white Christmas in Canada tomorrow.
