We had a nice slow start to today. Reading, relaxing and doing washing in the morning, we headed out around 1400 to wander the Hutongs and visit Tianamen.
Our hotel is very close to the Hutongs. These are streets which have been kept in the classic Chinese city style - a network of small passageways lined with shops.
There are a lot of restaurants - very traditional food looking. There are also a lot of street food vendors. We bought an omelette and a cook sister type pastry for our snack lunch.

The edge of the Hutong suburb borders Tianamen, so we took a stroll around the square. It is filled with interesting buildings and as a centre piece to Beijing is big and grand.
We got to have a closer look at the old Beijing city gate (Avery impressive building), Mao's mausoleum, the Great Hall of the People, the people's Heros monument, the forbidden city gate, an enormous fake but very beautiful flower centre piece, and the China National Museum - all very impressive.

To end off our Beijing trip we decided to have a last Beijing Duck for dinner - delicious as always. After which we had a little wander through some of the hutong shops close to the restaurant before calling it a day.
Our trip to China has been great, and we both feel it was better than expected - a very impressive country.
