Up bright and early we enjoyed some breakies before heading down to the beach for a snorkel. We had managed to rent some snorkels and masks from a dive shop for the day and they gave us some tips on where to go. It turned out that all we had to do was swim out to the reef right off the beach we had been on each day. Fantastic! It was the first time mom was trying snorkeling and could not have been better! The reef was a short walk and then swim off the beach and was teaming with amazing fish life. We saw royal blue starfish, emperor angel fish, electric parrot fish and so much more. Some of the best and easiest snorkeling ever. We all had such a great time and stayed in for over an hour.
Then it was time to pack up and check out of our hotel. We caught a taxi to our new hotel and the folks brought their bags to our room. This hotel is a row or so further away from the sea and although we felt a little disappointed when we first saw it, the owners are a lovely couple that are very keen to help and offer tips for the area.
Mom and Tess popped out for some lunch and the hotel owner, Phil, drove them to a nearby spot for phad Thai and sarmies.
After lunch Phil offered to take us to a beautiful view point up the mountain so we jumped into his car. The drive up was lovely and we went passed the elephant camp and some fun rasta bars. The restaurant he took us to was called Sabai Corner and was amazing. The view is of the different bays below and really offers a special view of this part of the island. Just amazing. We enjoyed some drinks and ice cream before heading back to the hotel. We found the lovely rooftop pool on the neighbouring building and enjoyed a cool swim. The folks packed up and then their taxi arrived. It was a tearful good bye from all and we can't believe that their holiday is over. Once they had left we felt a bit lost but chatted to Phil and his wife Joe for a while and then the electricity went off. Oh no. We decided to walk back to the dive shop to return the masks and snorkels and then went for dinner at an Italian place. The pizza was delicious, they had a pizza oven, and Anton's food was great until he found a cockroach in it - gross! Oh well, we walked back hoping the electricity was back on and yay, it was. We climbed into bed and watched some tv about the US elections. Anton isn't feeling great so it looks like diving tomorrow will have to be postponed. We are missing the folks and will have to get back into our travel groove over the next few days before we head off to Hong Kong.
