The rain belted down all night and it felt like the roof was going to lift off. By morning it had eased up and we decided to go on a bush walk. It was only 10 minutes out of town but on the way the rain started up again so the bushwalk was cancelled. Instead we decided to check out a small town called Huntly for morning tea. It was just a bit further up the road and meant we could stay warm and dry in the car a bit longer (did I mention the car had heated seats?).

Back to Hamilton for lunch and this time the rain did give up. There was a great kids park by Lake Rotoroa. The boys had a great time and were able to really stretch their legs. There was a huge slippery slide that Josh used while Nick tried to take his photo.

We headed to the museum after lunch and ended up at the art gallery. This was not the place for us - the boys were still hyped up after the park - so we eventually found the museum. There was a great section about Antarctica and "Ice" with lots of hands on fun for kids. We even took a few photos until we were politely told that photography was not permitted. There was even a science show that showed us all how cold it gets in Antarctica. There was lots of dry ice and CO2 experiments which got Nick thinking that we should repeat when we get home.

There was a break in the weather so we walked along the Waikato river for a bit. Lots of fun and photos but Mum was "hands on" with Josh to stop him falling in. And speaking of "hands on" Anthony may have found his calling.. Whilst bending over to tie his shoelace a couple of old dears commented on their desire to be "hands on".

Dinner was full of drama. Josh's wobbly tooth took a hit from a tough noodle and started bleeding. He was already tired and we worried about him having a coronary but ice cream calmed him down. Before bed he yanked it out by himself so now we have to ensure the Tooth Fairy can find us.

Tomorrow is another big day of travel so the plan is to get away by 8am. Ha ha. We'll see - Don't like our chances.

Good fun
All looks like good fun. We had visitors from NZ yesterday and they tell us petrol is very expensive and diesel not so much. Good thing you have a diesel even if it does sound like a tractor. Must remind the boys of Poppy's Peugeot.
