Being in the city, you are always surrounded by buildings and skyscrapers. A busy and bustling town where no one stops for anyone. People take advantage of the little things in life. They rush along and surpass the beauties of the world around us. But to me, the little things in life put a smile on my face. For instance, on my way home from Jamaica Bay I saw the most beautiful sunset- almost perfect. The rays of the sun shone through a big puff of cloud making it seem as though heaven was telling us the world is perfect today. Contrasting with the blue sky with hints of baby pink. Really breathe taking.

I love to explore new areas, I love to hike too! So venturing to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge would be a fun filled hike. Plus, its amazingly close to home so why not. Hopped in my spectacular jeep with my best friend and headed to Far Rockaway. Got a little lost, saved by the GPS, crossed the bridge and reached the visitors center. From the looks of the outside I could see no trail but after talking to the ranger, turns out the hike is right behind the visitors center!

It's a small place- the trail was only 2 miles but it was a beautiful place. I'm not into birds but if you are a bird watcher then this is the perfect place to be. There are all sorts of birds all up in this place. The views change as you walk and it gets better with every step you take. Go for a quiet walk, watch the birds, read a book, whatever action you choose it is a very relaxing place to be.

Venturing off trail if you dare because you can easily get lost if you're not on the main loop trail. But we risked it anyway and found ourselves faced with huge trees- one that vera claimed to look like a scene from Twilight and another which reminded her of Lord of the Rings... Haha.

Don't take the little things in life for granted. Breathe it in and give me a big smile!
