Unlike Philadelphia, I really didn't make an itinerary for DC. Except for the fact that I wanted to somehow bump into Obama. But the closest I ever got was seeing the White House. Surprisingly a lot smaller than what I pictured but still beautiful.

Megabus is awesome, traveled from Philly to DC in less than 3 hours on a budget too! Since we had no plans in DC, I was about to make one at the visitors center. You know you're in DC when you need to go through security metal screening before entering the visitor's center. Safety first I completly understand but still none-the-less strange to me. Picked up a map of DC and conquered all we needed to see in a span of 3 hours.

So here was our DC adventure: Walk to the Capital Building, pass the national mall, towards the Washington Memorial, towards Abraham Lincoln's memorial, to the White House and finally some dinner at Julies Empenadas.

Going strong- our backpack to the Capital Building was a success. Long story short: took pictures- lost my sunglasses, Vera saves the day (see video), fed ducks and almost got attacked by seagulls because of the duck feeding, ran away, took more pictures and now on to find the National Mall.

You know, one would think that National Mall would be really big, filled with souvenir shops but all with air conditioner. One would only think... but boy are we all wrong. The National Mall in DC was either A) Non-existent or B) An outdoor mall consisting of food stalls on two long strips of green grass. Oh and a merry-go-round. Shops? Didnt see any. There goes our cold rest. Still stuck walking in the heat.
Well at least the good news is that what was suppose to be Hurricane Earl died out, so my weekend to DC and VA will be saved once again :)

Fine, no mall but still venturing towards the Washington Memorial to take pictures. I remember going to see Abraham Lincoln's Memorial and the Washington Memorial when I was in 7th grade. But for some reason I dont have any pictures! Sadly though, when we reached the Washington Memorial we had to cut our trip a bit short because we were too exhausted to backpack any further to see Abraham Lincoln. Sorry Abe my feet were sore and back was aching but I sure will see you another day though!

Was going to quit on the White House too but I had just enough energy to force myself to the White House. Always have seen pictures and videos, been to DC twice and never have seen the White House in person. Using up the last of my energy, I managed to take photos but no Obama :(

At this point, I am so mad at Yelp. Yelp lies to me!!! Gives me false addresses to restaurants! Where was Julies Empenadas?!?!?!? Vera Android of "You have reached your destination" ended up being an office building. Surely Julie cant be in there cooking... lol. Another day of yelp disappointment, tis ok because we found a little mexican restaurant. Had some chicken chimichanga and it was even better than Julies Empenadas!

Feet well rested and tummy quite full, we're off to see the greatest person I know! Jeremy in Virginia! Good Bye DC- Hello Virgina!
Now if only we could figure out the metro machine.... 15 minutes later......
Ok for real now- Good Bye DC- Hello Virginia!
