Where I stayed
Our first stop was the Dali Museum just over the French-Spanish border. Dali was a very…interesting man. The museum certainly wasn’t a bore. Dali loves his naked, distorted people and his weird settings. One of the coolest paintings looked like a naked woman when you view it with your eyes, but when you look into a camera it’s Abe Lincoln’s image. Pretty neat! I can’t say I love his wild style but I find it really interesting that it’s so popular in Spain. It really says a lot about how open they are to new ideas and design, and I’ve really found that to be true in my time here
Next stop in Spain was Barcelona! We did a bus tour of the city first to get a feel for it, and got out by the water. Ridiculous heat. It was most definitely over 95 and being by the shore, there was a lot of humidity. We then went to a mountain right next to the city where the Olympic Stadium was built (actually inside the mountain- really cool) and got a great view of the city and the water.
Our hotel was right by Las Ramblas, which is the main shopping/eating street. So crazy! The first night we explored the nightlife on the waterfront but didn’t really go out for a long time. It stunk because by the time we got to Barca, our bodies and brains were so worn out. Still, really fun to be down there and take it all in.
We were in Barca for one more day, but after 2 weeks of intense sight-seeing we decided to hit the beach…
