The only purpose of stopping in Ochi for me was to do a day trip to Nine Mile, Mob Marley's birth and rest place which is in the middle of nowhere. From other travellers I have heard that it's difficult to get there by public transport, so I decided to book a tour. But calling the recommended operator the evening before (ok, I am always a bit late with organization recently), the luck was not on my side and they had no tour for the next day. Nobody in my guesthouse, nor in the hotel next door would know about other operators, so I chose the only short term option and asked our security guy who is also a driver. We agreed on a price and it was worth it. Both, the driver and the tour. What a peaceful ride through the green hills of Jamaica. And despite being very touristic, the Bob Marley Mausoleum felt to me like a special place, there must be something, it was touching somehow.
My driver Ever was a relaxed elder man, greeting people all along the way because he drives the route often also because he has some children living in that area. Greeting is either honking, handsigns out of the window, shouting 'allright mon', 'hi princess/baby', 'rastafari' etc. And finally, with sympathic Ever it all definitely became normal.
This day I found my second favourite country after India :-)
We had a simple lunch at a place with a beautiful view, organic and vegetarian, Ever doesn't eat meat, that's part of Rastafari. I'm learning.
When getting back to town he drove around and showed me some local restaurants to eat. I later went for dinner at a small place, three chairs, one menu, it was great!
