Got up early as usual, brought some laundry to wash and was at the ruins short after opening at 8. At the entrance two travellers from England convinced me to join them renting a guide which I was not planning to do but for which I was grateful at the end because it was really interesting and the two hours went very fast.
Our guide Juan only does one tour a day, he doesn't like to work too much but when he does he is very enthusiastic. He didn't just spread his information but we had some interactive talking. Learned e.g. that the Maya originally came over from Asia because I noticed same signs as I got to know them in India. Of course also discussed the end of the Maya calendar this year and he believes that something is coming to an end because the planets will be in one line as at the beginning. So talked about the fear of death. For the Maya dying was something they looked forward to, e.g. the best player of a game had the honor to get killed. Etc... The most interesting tour I ever did I think!

These pictures remind me very much of my journey many many years ago to Mexico, Peru and Bolivia. Interesting that you follow the Mayan traces like I did almost 40 years ago....
