Had another great week here, weather not been so good, Magnetic Island (where i am now) supposidly has 320 days of sunshine a year, but we haven't seen the sun 3 out of our 4 days we've been here!!

Last Monday I went on a scooteroo tour - about 50 of us on a guided tour around the town...but all on motorbikes!! It was so cool, i loved it! Makes me want to go travelling on a motorbike!! - Already planning my next trip haha! We saw kangeroos on the tour aswell which was great. I left 1770 on Tuesday morning and got the bus to the Cattle Station in Kroombit. We had such a fun day! Some people went horse riding or quad biking in the afternoon, but not being a big horse fun and having been on a motorbike the day before I went for a walk with another girl called Lizzy who I've been travelling with for a week now. We were doing a walk to a top of a big hill, but didn't actually find the top before we had to head back! We then went to Rodeo where we did shooting!!!  I was pretty rubbish, only hit 1 out of the 5 targets, but it was good fun! We were then taught how to catch and turn a goat and then played a game of which team could catch, turn and brand their goat fastest! Played a few other random games, some involving a big electric shock stick thing!!! It was so funny! In the evening, after a delicious big meal we were taught how to crack a whip and ride a bull!! Dressing up and a game of limbo also featured!!! It was a very random, crazy day and so much fun!

We had an early start the following morning and a big driving day. We left the cattle station at 7am and arrived in Airlie Beach at 5.30pm. Everyone from the bus went out together in the evening which was good fun.  Thursday was the first day of my Whitsundays trip! Two lovely dutch girls from the bus where on the same boat as me (there are over 50 different boats!) which was really nice. We only left at 4pm so had most of the day to chill out in Airlie, but the weather wasn't very good unfortunately! We were all quite shocked at just how small the boat was when we arrived at the dock and it sure was a squish with 20 passengers and 3 crew on board!  So glad that i was a single traveller when we were allocated our beds as the doubles were only a tiny bit bigger than a single, so I got a good deal!! However, little did we know that 5 of us would be eaten alive by bed bugs!!! :-( So the second night i slept on deck with a few others. It was fun, a little bit cold (I slept in all my clothes and borrowed a sleeping bag!!) and we did have to move in the middle of the night when we started getting wet lol, but much rather that than adding to the 60+ bites!!!

On Friday we stopped at the Whitsundays Islands National Park where Whithaven beach is - voted one of the world's most beautiful beaches. It was lovely and I can imagine with sunshine it would have been stunning! We did some great snorkelling, saw some mahussive fish AND a turtle!!! The coral was really cool too. During the trip we did quite a lot of proper sailing as ours was a racing boat!! You did have to cling on for dear life as we were practically vertical in the water! It was hilarious when the wind changed and we all had to scramble to the other side of the boat!! We arrived back in Airlie on Saturday afternoon. Because of the bed bug infestation I put everything I took with my in a very hot wash...and consequently turned all my light coloured clothes purple - caused my the trousers i got in india!! Bad times!!! So i now have lots of purple clothes!! Got the bus to Townsville on Sunday morning and then a 20 minute boat ride to Magnetic Island. Met some people on the boat and at the hostel who I'd seen earlier on in my Oz travels which was really cool. We've had a really fun few days here. We hired scooters and a moke out on Monday which was hilarious! It was a great way to explore the island but i don't think i should be let loose on a scooter ever again!! Managed to fall off once but luckily didn't hurt myself!!  Don't know how!!! We went on a walk and saw 2 wild koalas which was cool and we also feed rock wallabies which were really cute! Our hostel is wicked, it's right on the beach! We've just been chilling out there in the evenings and playing pool!

Tomorrow we're getting the bus to Mission beach where I'll stay for two nights before going to Cairns. Can't believe I'm starting my final week in Oz!! I hope you're all really well. Loads and loads of love xxxxxxxxxx

Well what an active week you've had. Missed talking to you again but the boys enjoyed hearing all your news.
What a pity about the clothes- am now looking forward to seeing lots of photos with you dressed in purple!!!
I can't believe you have only got one week left in Oz and then a new experience starts again.
Am going to Kew gardens with my class tomorrow so that should be fun and Cherith and John have invited us for a BBQ - a lovely treat.
Speak to you soon I hope. Love you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi again! Seems ages since I wrote a comment. Sorry!! Last week was Christian Aid week and as I am my church rep I was very busy! Great to read all your adventures once more - all sounds so amazing and brings back all the memories of when Hayley and then Warren were visiting all these places. Mission beach is where I plan to do my sky dive!!!! HeHe!!!! Do you think I will manage to actually do it!! I keep telling everyone so I can't back out when i get there!!!Think I need to know the name of your boat to the Whitsundays though so I can avoid the bed bugs and the purple clothes!!! I can't believe that you are nearing the end of your time in Australia! According to the itinerary on my wall its Fiji next! What a trip!! Life is fine here - half term next week! Seems to have come round quickly but I am still looking forward to it! Out for dinner with friends tomorrow evening then going to see Counting Crows on Thursday at Brixton Academy (have you heard of them?) and then to a 50th Birthday party on Friday before going to Hayleys for the weekend so another busy week! Take care amd looking forward to the next installment!!
