Hey! I'm in Australia!!! Can you believe it!? I can't!!! Have had such a good few days, absolutely love Melbourne, it rocks!! My flight was great, slept most of the way so it went really quickly. Nat and Jim were there to meet me at the airport which was soooo exciting!! I've felt so at home being with them over the past 4 days, sometimes forget I'm on the other side of the world! We've been staying with Jo (Jim's cousin) who has very kindly let us completely take over her lounge!! It's been great fun and to have had free accommodation for 5 nights is so goooood!!!

On our first evening we wandered around Melbourne for a bit, discovered that the Melbourne International Comedy Festival is on at the moment which is wicked as there had been loads of free stuff happening all over town which we've been going to. We went to Nandos for dinner as after a few months of rice / noddles and lots of that kinda thing I was REALLY craving a big burger!! haha. And I'm not usually a big meat eating person, but it was just what I needed! After dinner we went to the Uni theatre to watch a comedy sketch called Occupation Ugly (done by 8 university students) which was really funny!

We've been so lucky with the weather (they had a week of solid rain before we arrived and now we've had 5 days of bright blue sky!!!) so have been able to do lots of walking around town. Jo's flat is 40 mins walk from the centre so on Friday morning we walked in along the river which was really pretty. Being Good Friday most touristy places were closed but there was a comedian in Federation Square so we sat and watched him for a while and then after having a picnic lunch in a park did a bit of shopping. In the evening we went to 'The Big Laugh Out' - another comedy show in Fed Square. There were 5 acts, 3 of whom were really good but the other two were soooooooo bizarre!!! Mr Splashy Pants - a lady dressed in a sleeping bag who was meant to be a whale and Cocoloco - two people dressed up as Alice in Wonderland, were the ones everyone was nervously laughing at because of how strange they were! But it was free...so was well worth going to for the other 3 sketches! When we got home made fajitas for tea which were soooo yum!

On Saturday we visited the Botanic Gardens which were really cool and then found an amazing market! I love markets!! But seriously going to run out of money if I carry on going to them!!! Too many lovely things that are just so hard to resist! But Dad, you'll be pleased to know I've taken on mum's way of thinking...I'm saving money on accommodation...so just spending it in other ways! :-) In the evening we met Jo for cocktails before going to see Wilson Dixon (an american, country singer and comedian) who was hilarious!! We then had a mahussive meal in Chinatown, so delicious.

Yesterday was another great day! We went to two markets!! Bad news for my bank balance....but hey! We went to a lovely town called St Kilda which had the best cakes shops I've ever seen!!! As is was Easter Sunday we just had to have some!! :-) We walked a long the pier and on the way back WE SAW A PENGUIN!!!! It was just swimming a long and even did a little jump out of the water for us!! Went way to quickly for me to even try and get my camera out though! We sat and watched the sun set which was really beautiful before coming home for pizza, a film and lots of chocolate!

Today we've had another day just chilling out (but don't worry Dad, no markets today so not much money spent!). Melbourne is a really cool city, I love it! We've done lots of wandering around just enjoying the cultural vibe! We went to a quieter part of the city and found some second hand book shops where Nat and Jim traded some books and I bought a Lonely Planet Guide for the East Coast and for Fiji. Tomorrow I'm getting the Oz Experience bus at 6am from Melbourne to Sydney. I'm not quite sure how it works, but think we're stopping off at Wilsons Promontory and Jindabyne for a night, so will probably arrive in Sydney on Thursday...but will let you know in my next blog! Nat and Jim are off to Cairns on tomorrow morning, had such a great few days with them, it's been so lovely!

I hope you all had a great Easter weekend! Massive big hug to you all, loads and loads of love xxxxxxxxxx

G'Day to you too!
Message from Dad- 'It's not an extended shopping tripyou know!'
Perhaps we could see a photo of some of your purchases sometime!
Glad you had a lovely time chilling in Melbourne-what great places you are seeing.
We had lots of fun yesterday(Easter Sunday)Paul drove to church he is doing really well. Mass was so long that the 11 oclock were queueing outside for 15 mins and it was CHAOS!!The Sheridans came for coffee and chocolate biscuits!!
Then the Hewetts came for a massive Easter lunch KJ had to lie down in the hall after the main course!!! We all wished you and Tom could just have teleported yourselves back for the day. He is coming home on the 24th I'm getting excited !!! After lunch we played on the Wii and all the Hewett chickens (they are not chicks anymore cos they are all over 18) fell asleep!!! Paul and Dad played tennis with Chris and Colin and then some of us watched a DVD called The Edge- hope you never have to endure it on a plane journey!!
Would love to see the sun in the next few days and get in the garden. Looking forward to your next news
Love you lots xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Can't wait to see your purchases!!
Hi Anna
I wrote a comment a couple of evenings ago but just as I hit 'post comment' my computer lost internet access!! I couldn't face writing it all again - my typing being so slow - so decided to wait till today! Sounds like you are continuing to have an amazing time . It must have been wonderful to see familiar faces when you arrived in Melbourne and to be able to spend some days together! I have read all your comments about Melbourne with interest as Richard and I are still on target to visit there next summer! I can't wait!
I have had a restful holiday but back to work tomorrow. I always dread going back which is strange since I enjoy it when I get there! I have been to Canterbury for a few days to see my Dad and my sister and nieces. I have also been north to visit Hayley! She is really getting her house sorted with lots of new furniture! Warren returns to uni this afternoon - the house will seem quiet without him! He is definitely the noisy member of the family! Ross passed his driving test this week so is very excited! He passed first time! So did his Dad and his brother whereas I, Hayley and Warren and Ross's girlfirends all passed second time! Oh dear!!
Been meaning to say to you that we are still hoping that you will be able to speak at the 10th anniversary celebrations on your return!! Nothing to worry about! We can meet and discuss it when you get back!! Looking forward to reading about your adventures on the Oz experience - both Hayley and Warren so enjoyed doing that!! They still talk about it and the people they met! Have fun!!

Beautiful babes and beau
Lovely to see you together with Nat and Jim. You all look so relaxed and happy. Shame you had to part. The apple blossom is beautiful but beginning to fall here and spring really feels as if it's finally sprung. Love Roberta x
