Hi from Amarillo,
Today was a very long drive. We drove 798 miles(987 km) through Arkansas, Oklahoma to Texas. It took us 11 hours. We crossed over the Canadian River and Canadian valley. We didn't even know that they existed. We went through Cherokee territory and saw many buffalo. We got to the Big Texan Motel which we heard an excellent steak restaurant next to it. The swimming pool was in the shape of the state of Texas. The pool was all covered up due to the cold they've been having. You could sure tell we were tourists because we were the only ones around without cowboy hats and cowboy boots. We did have a steak dinner at the Big Texan but we didn't eat the 72 oz. steak to get it free (we left that for our good friend Tom to do). On our way out of Amarillo, we drove by the Cadillac Ranch where they have 10 cadillacs buried with their tail fins in the air. We will be seeing more of Texas in Feb. We're off to Albuquerque, New Mexico tomorrow.
