The Cuc Phong National Park was awesome! Beautiful scenery, lovely food (and massive portions!) and lots of wildlife!
We started with the Endanged Primate Rescue Centre; it holds many different types of endangered monkeys and all look really well cared for. We were told about the history of the centre and the problems they have/have had with poachers. They're doing some great things there...
We then hired bikes and cycled the 20km to the centre of the park (passing the "Big Tree" which is... a big tree and the Cave of Prehistoric Man which is where human graves and tools were found dating back over 7500 years!). We then hiked through the jungle... There were LOADS of bugs and mosquitoes (as expected but still minging!). We stopped to see the 1000 year old tree but decided against the longer route which included the Ancient Tree (as we were a bit sick of trees by that point... Each tree looked pretty much the same!).
It was hard work but a very fun day! We celebrated with food and beers at the Gate reception (where we were staying). The portions were MASSIVE and the food was yummy! Just what we needed after our day of exercise...
The next day, we visited the Botanic Gardens which was a lovely 3km walk but was basically an overgrown garden!
