Where I stayed
Iberostar Lagona Azul
Today we leave for Varadero at 1 pm Cuban time; that could mean anywhere from 1 to 2 or later. We have to check out by noon so well be staying close to the Hotel today. After breakfast we decided to go shopping. Dave ended up buying a pair of Brazilian sandals as his from San Diego last spring were falling apart. The shops that we visited were in the adjoin hotel. The prices were very good. The sandals only cost $40.00. He also bought two Italian shirts for $18.00 each. Yes unbelievably Ann did not buy anything. After shopping we went back to the hotel and checked out. We put our luggage in storage and went to the bar. Dave bought an internet card and worked on the blog until 1 when we got ready to go to Varadero. While we were waiting we met two ladies and three children from Ontario who were also waiting for the bus. There were also some people from Newfoundland. The bus finally arrived around two and we were on our way. The trip was uneventful except for the stop at the heist bridge in the country. At that stop you can buy piņa colada's and other things we bought one and an ice cream. The tour guide, who made lots of mother in law jokes, said this was the best place in the country to bring your mother in law but his knew how to fly. Back on the road we arrived at Varadero about 4:30. While checking in we received a drink that was brought to us. We got to our room and unpacked and went to the pool. It was quite nice. After sitting around the pool we went for supper. After supper we went to the show, which turned out to be the Lion King. The dancing and costumes were great but the singing was not great. The kids from the kids club, a babysitting service, played animals and were dressed in costumes. The story was basically told but not in detail. After the show we when back to the room and called it a night.

Great pricing you got, and surprised that Ann did not buy anything. Sounds like Dave is buying up a storm this trip :)
