Breakfast by the pool, what a great way to start the day. The rooms were not worth the price that we paid but you have to splurge some of the time. After checking out, we went to the market to find a place to get pictures for our visa for Togo. We decided to look at the port as it is one of the largest in West Africa. We were unable to get down to it due to how busy it was; the guards said to come back on Saturday or Sunday and we may be able to.
The border to Togo is only 200km away and we hope to get there before dark. We do not know how long it will take to get across the border as we do not have a visa. Sanga and Van Damme can cross with just identification so it is no problem for them. The car and us is another matter. Again we come to construction. This time it is only 40km but it still takes time. At the border Sanga is directed to take the car and papers to one area. They look at the papers stamp them and tell him to go to another building to hand them in and then the car can go to Togo for their paper work. It turns out the computers at the new building are down so Ann and Dave decide to walk through the border crossing and start the process of getting out of Ghana and a visa into Togo. Van Damme came with us and with the help of a fellow from Togo it only took us 40 minutes to get out of Ghana and into Togo with a 7 day visa. Now we just had to wait for Sanga and the car. While we waited Ann and Dave walked up and down the street looking at what the sellers had. Van Damme, who has not travelled much, was worried by all of the people. Finally Sanga and the car came to the crossing. We went to meet him and waited by the car for the last stage of the process getting the car into Togo.
There is a lot beach here and very little development along it. We tried a couple of hotels near the beach but they were too expensive. We came to the Hotel Pelican about a block off the beach and got an apartment with big rooms, each room has its own bathroom and a sitting room. We have decided to stay here for two days; not go to Benin and then go back to Ghana to get the plane to Germany
