It's so cool to start to see these things start to happen, each day we'll be changing lives!
Also, we got the pharmacy set up today...we have two exam rooms. one is stocked shelves and the other is the backstock. It was slightly ridiculous and we definitely got slap happy working in there. Sister Rory is a hoot and I am really glad I got to spend the day with her. Jeanette wants to be a nun when she grows up now, she just has to become Catholic first :)
A highlight from today, the physicians consulted with patients today to see if they could be squeezed into the surgical schedule or if they were candidates for next year or perhaps if there were other resources available. We had a young girl show up who was born with a defect where she has no leg below the knee of her left leg. She had been wearing a boot over it and walking on both knees. at some point someone gave her crutches but didn't show her how to use them, she lives in the mountains so it's impossible to navigate the terrain without knowing how to use them. Mick is an orthopaedist so he found some crutches and showed her how to use them, by the time she left she was grinning and hopping up and over stairs like she'd been doing it forever. There is someone willing to fit her with a prosthetic so I'm going to work on getting the information so we can submit her case to First Hand for assistance.
