We arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, and are leaving tonight. It's been a short, but sweet trip.
As I mentioned before, this is the fast-paced part of our voyage. It's too bad that we couldn't stay longer.
We had a nice visit though.
We arrived in the Kowloon China port early yesterday morning. Our deck (facing starboard side) looks out at the island of Hong Kong. It was most impressive as we were arriving. I've never seen such a populated port before. There are so many skyscrapers and large buildings; it reminded me of the innards of a computer. Matthew's calling it the Future's City, which is an appropriate description.
Highlights of the visit:
I bought a new camera. It's a wonderful little point and shoot. My other one broke the other day.
We sampled a little dim sum. Though I like it, our restaurant choice wasn't ideal.
We took a city-wide trip on a double-decker bus. Barrett loved that, and we sat in the back on the top (open-air) level. It took us all around HK, and we were able to hop-on and hop-off at will.
We took a ride up a funicular tram up to the top of HK peak to see the city view. It was amazing.
We also watched a laser light show from our ship's deck. Essentially all the skyscrapers on the bay flash colored lights on and off, and shoot lasers off the top. That was pretty cool, and they do it everynight for about 15 minutes after dark.
Here are some photos for your enjoyment. ... We're off now, sailing for 2 days, but will be in Shanghai for another short visit. Most of the ship (including Les and Judy) are out and about in China exploring. Usually there are about 900 people, but we're currently sailing with only just over 200. Not so coincidentally, all the adults with children are here on the ship. :0)
