We began the day by going to lectures on various topics. Ken and Andrea attended a lecture on the entire history of Russia in one hour and the Susans attended a lecture on the entire history of art in 40 minutes. We are now quite the experts, ask us anything. Come on, ask us anything, we are waiting. while we are waiting we will tell you the all of the czars of Russia, up to and including Ivan the terrible were Swedish, and we thought all you Swedes were so quiet and unassuming.
The other excitement of the morning happened when one of Susans apparently got in trouble with the bridge. Now Andrea wasn't there, but she was told the the reason Ms. Lach looks so odd today is because she plugged her hair curler into the European plug without a converter (you aren't supposed to do that). Her sexy butler called her and said he had just gotten a call from the bridge that a fire alarm was going off, she said "come save me". Unfortunately there wasn't really a fire so no one came to save her. Also unfortunately, she couldn't use her hair curler in that outlet and her privileges on board have been permanently revoked. PS from Sue TOM COME AND SAVE ME.
We then went on a vintage ( or wintage as they say in Finnish) tram tour of Helsinki. We saw the white Lutheran church at least 6 times from different angles. We also learned about the Finnish romantic style of architecture and the Saarinen father and son. We went for a walk on the esplanade and visited the Iitalla store. We had tea and played trivia and won, back on the ship. We are smart, we knew that your ruby anniversary is your 40th anniversary. We missed the question about what Mother Theresa's name was before she became Mother Theresa. Any of you know, and do you know what country only has one color on their flag?
We then had sail away followed by seagulls, drank another bottle of champagne and had a lovely dinner in the premium restaurant. Ms. Lach inspired by her early day art lecture realized that her dessert plate looked like a Miro painting. With that we called it a night. Here are some pictures. Tomorrow we arrive in St. Petersburg!
