Got up in time to see the sunrise over the ocean this morning.  Spectacular, but I couldn't really capture it in a picture.  I tried though. Look at the picture at the front of the blog, that was a sunrise from last year and it looked pretty much the same.

Worked all morning while Ken slept ( I want to retire).  We rented bicycles and found out how out of shape we are.  Rode for a little while on the beach, which is hard going and then around the time share.  We have the bikes for a week and will get into the hang of it.  These bikes don't have handbrakes and the last time I rode a bike with what we used to call "buck brakes" I must have been 7 years old.  Hard to get used to, hope I don't wrench my knee trying to stop.

The ocean was lovely but I was disappointed as there were no pelicans in sight.  We then went to the pool - the outdoors pool, eat your hearts out.  I do have a picture of Ken in the pool taken from the balcony of our timeshare.

Then we went on the wine tasting.  This is a winery that imports grapes mostly from northern California in the fall and Chile in the spring, but they had a Riesling from Michigan grapes.  They crush them in the parking lot twice a year.  I started to wonder if Lucy shows up for that.  Clearly their reds were superior to their whites.  We actually bought a bottle of the Rhone blend that was pretty good.  Their top selling wine is cranberry wine ( just shut up Ms. Rhode).  It was actually quite good, reminded me of the Boggs liqueur that they quit making several years ago.  They said it would be good mixed with champagne and it just tasted like Thanksgiving to me, so we sent a few bottles home to be saved for next Thanksgiving and Christmas.

So we were going to go for a restaurant week four course dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, but they had good snacks at the winery and there were FREE BRATS  at the timeshare, along with a beer tasting.  I knew I wasn't hungry enough for a dinner so we decided to go with the brats and the beer.  It was really fun.  They have three fire pits here now, new this year.  They burn real logs in them and it was cool and felt like camping out in Minnesota.  The beer was great.  The guy in charge was hilarious.  He got growlers from a local pub that has crafts beers.  You could tell that he was careful to balance out what he was serving.  We paid $7 to taste four beers.  At the end he just walked around and poured us more so no beer was wasted.  We talked to a number of interesting people that we wouldn't have ever talked to otherwise and all in all it was a great evening. Met people who toured the country on Harleys, a retired judge from Michigan, who said he always assigned family court to the other judges, when he was senior judge, a retired college professor, all interesting people,.

They have really improved the activities around here.  There was nothing like this last year, and it will all happen again next week, and the next week.  Chili and margaritas tomorrow night, but we really are going to go to a restaurant tomorrow, Ken doesn't want margaritas.  Crap, they are only $2.

So that's the deal for today.  Will let you know what happens tomorrow, if I am not too tired after listening to jazz tomorrow.  Otherwise you will have to wait until Friday, when it is supposed to rain. Might go find ducks tomorrow morning- maybe I will get pictures of some good ones.

PS  Ken has Modern Family on the TV and the larger gay guy just said he was an "inadvertent Stanley Kowalski". He is walking around in a white T shirt calling for a dog named Stella.  This show is funny.

See ya tomorrow or Friday - whatever.
