We have continued to pal around with Republicans today.  Check out the pictures-yes Ken is now pals with Herman Cain.  While we were eating breakfast and watching very important republicans gathering around, in the door walks Herman Cain.  He is very big and very loud.  Ken of course goes up to him and shakes his hand and I followed.  Ken asked if he would allow a picture and he said after he finished his interview.  So he goes off to another room and we watch the interview live on Fox.  He then comes out, gives another interview with some radio guy named Tony from California.  Ken is persistent and we now have his photo with Herman Cain.  Stephen Colbert did not show up. Herman claimed that he really didn't want anyone to vote for him and that he was only hanging around with Colbert because college students would come out to see him.  He thinks he can influence the college students.  He also said that Colbert is a closet Republican.

Now look at the pictures I have attached.   These are Ken's two most recent semi-celebrity encounters (well maybe). Once in the British Virgin Islands and today in Charleston. Now Ken has gone back down to the bar- the Tony is still there, doing interviews with TV lights, so I guess he is a TV guy now.  I have no idea who he was interviewing. Ken wants to see what they are making of Newt's victory.

The remainder of the day included no more semi-celebrities. We were unsuccessful in our quest to vote and Ken narrowly avoided arrest (sorry to disappoint you Susan D). We walked for hours
and looked at pre-revolutionary war homes. Every other house has an historical plaque on it. We toured an Adamesque style house, one of the most important Adamesque houses in the US, in fact.  Apparently this has nothing to do with the Adams family.  It was not spooky.

This is a beautiful city.  Check the pictures out  It is very warm here, over 70, so it was a nice day for a walk.

This evening Dave and Jean Mormon came down to Charleston and had dinner with us.  It was really good to see them again.  Too bad they can't make it to Hilton Head this year.  We ate a great little Italian restaurant, Trattoria Lucca.  It was a very small restaurant in a neighborhood that seems to be improving.  Yea for restaurant week! Ken and I had the restaurant week menu which included a wonderful scallop appetizer, grilled baby octopus with pasta, a teeny little chicken with a sauce made from pureed parsnips with some grapes and I don't know what else and a chocolate budino for dessert.  This is a wonderful foody town.

Ken just walked back into the room. Said they were all idiots down there.  Apparently he set Tony straight- defended Al Franken and told him Michelle Bachman was an idiot.I think Tony was on the air.  Crap now we have the Tea Party after us.  I knew I shouldn't have let him leave the room alone.

Tomorrow we are going on a walking tour in Charleston and then down to Hilton Head - hopefully we can find some birds on the way.  I am trying to talk Ken into going to a swamp to view wildlife - we will see.  At least the Republicans will have left town.
