Luang Prabang

Well we finally arrived in Luang Prabang (LP) after our 2 days on the slow boat. We had heard some great things about this place so we were looking forward to it. We booked a really nice Guesthouse online via email however, when we got off the boat, we totally headed in the wrong direction and spent ages looking for the place so we were totally glad to finally see the place. It was a French colonial house with gorgeous wooden floors so we were happy out. All the pubs/restaurants in Laos and Thailand close at 11.30 and they are really strict about this so we headed out for a few bevies (as ye will see from the photos) the 1st night we landed in LP....3 litres of beer = €6.50=pissed Richie&Angie. So we’re told that the place to go after the pubs close is the local bowling alley in LP as they serve beer until 2.00am. It was totally surreal actually bowling while pissed....but it was such great fun. Next morning (hangovers in tow) we rented bikes and had a cycle around LP. That afternoon we found a class bar/restaurant off the beaten track a few kms from LP....it was a total chill out bar so we just had a beer and some food and just chilled. I kinda have to admit i was a little disappointed with LP but maybe it had been hyped up a bit too much but it is still a really nice place even if very touristy. The night market is really good in LP and we spent (with me dragging himself) a couple of hours meandering our way through the markets. We basically totally chilled out in LP which was great as the slow boat took a lot out of us.
We did find an amazing home ware shop in LP...seriously I’m chartering a plane once myself&Rich have our own place and buying the entire shop. The made the most amazing stuff from ebony wood...it just looked so unusual and you definitely wouldn’t find it in B&Q. Well that was our eventful trip to LP....sorry there are no major stories to tell but we were saving ourselves for the next part of our trip...Vang Vieng!!!!
