Today we woke up with no real plan except to do the laundry, some family research and to drive out to the location of the family household on Tim's old map again. We started at the tourism bureau and got the name of someone at the library. When we got to the library, we found that the contact we'd been given was out of town until 1:00 the next day, the day we had to leave. We availed ourselves of the library's public resources for a few hours but didn't glean too much of the family Wall or Dalton information so we decided to go back to the B&B and get our laundry and find a laundromat to do it in.
After looking and asking around town, we discovered that, in Dungarvan at least, the laundromat does your laundry for you. So we drove to the facility and Tim took the laundry into the woman there. She pleasantly took his information and in conversation Tim mentioned the names of the families we were seeking out. "Oh, well, you should meet Eileen then, she works 'round the corner at the toy store. She's a Dalton. You even resemble her late brother." Tim was excited about finding real relatives so we looked up the toy store. Unfortunately, Eileen wasn't there that day, but the saleswoman who was on duty explained that Eileen's brother, Karl, owned the hair salon across the street. Across the street we went and met Karl there. He was not full of family information, but was happy to meet us and speculate on how we might be related. He told us a Kevin Dalton from CT had looked him up a couple of years ago...we'll have to look into that. e wished him well and walked up the street toward the Dungarvan museum to see if they had any info n the location of the family "farm". The museum was nice and the staff pleasant if unhelpful. They suggested that one person who would be there after lunch might be more helpful so we went back to the town square to find a restaurant ourselves.
We had a delicious lunch at a local place that had handmade cakes and baked goods and then returned to the museum. The person we'd been waiting for was there, but not very helpful either. We thanked them for their time then collected our laundry and relaxed at our B&B until we decided to find a pub with Irish music playing where we could eat dinner that night. We went back to the town square but all the pubs had music starting at 10:00 and a minimum age Molly couldn't meet. Instead, we settled on the Shamrock Restaurant and had a nice meal there before returning to the B&B for the night.
