As a little break just before Christmas David and I decided to take a week and go exploring in Prague. So I found the most amazingly cheap four star hotel ever and off we flew.
We arrived in Prague late in the afternoon so we headed straight into town to find some food. Being winter, it was already dark so the Christmas lights made it look very pretty. We went to the old town square and had some Czech food, which mainly consisted of meat. It was very pretty, and very festive with the Christmas market. After dinner we wandered past the theatre and across the Charles Bridge before returning to our hotel.
The next day we came back into town to explore a bit further. We saw the astronomical clock strike on the hour, causing lots of little figures the appear behind a window and a skeleton to ring a bell. We then decided to climb the tower in the town hall, which gave us some excellent views over the Old Town Square and the rest of the city. We then sampled the local delicacies at the Christmas market. In the evening we walked around Wenceslas Square and the Obecni Dum before having dinner in a cellar under the Old Town Square that was decorated with animal skins and heads. We saw some traditional musicians play and ate enormous amounts of meat.
