We drove along the lake (which takes up half the country) for an entire day until we reached Chinteche. We camped for a couple of days by the lake. There we had a "punch night" where we took advantage of the very cheap alcohol and made a punch. It was great fun, and we were not put off by the torrential rain and thunderstorm. I have never seen such heavy rain. In the end I gave up trying to stay dry and jumped in the puddles instead. We also had a pig roast. A piglet was slaughtered for us and then roasted over a fire. Some got dropped on the floor and was immediately covered in ants (see photo). Rachel and I spent the two days lounging by the lake, swimming in the lake, and I went diving. I have never dived in freshwater before so I did it out of curiosity but it was fun swimming around the rocks and seeing the sunken car  and tiny blue fish. The buoyancy was a bit hard to get the hang of, so I kept floating and sinking uncontrollably. After the dive Rachel and I attempted to go waterskiing, but this being Africa their boat was not powerful enough so we ended up getting dragged along the surface of the lake while sitting on the skis. But they gave us a refund, and it was still really fun, so we got a couple of hours entertainment for nothing. I also had a man offer to swap a painting for my sarong which was ripped in 3 places. He must have been desperate. The next day we left Chinteche for Bulawayo.
