Drove to Gatlinburg today. Found the Rainbow Falls trailhead, off of the Orchard Loop road. Took a 5 mile hike up to the Falls. This trail is what they call an ascent trail as you are climbing all the time. Talk about gorgeous. It was quite foggy all day. A couple times the fog just magically lifted to reveal some of the most beautiful views in the World. The beginning of the hike follows the large stream on your right then as you climb higher you hike away from the water until you cross back over again. There are three foot bridges which are, thankfully, much sturdier than they look. After the hike a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a Diet Coke never tasted so good.
