The journey to Malaysia was great, we went from Krabi to the border in a little mini bus with air con so it was probably the comfiest journey yet as we could put our feet up and stretch out, it was a long journey.

We were debating whether to extend our visa to see more of Thailand but it would have meant doing a visa run to the border anyway. As soon as we entered Malaysia we were really glad we continued south as we could already see how beautiful the country was.

We hadnt really thought about our route much but Andy did a bit of reading up and we decided to go down the east coast. The border crossing was very easy and much more inviting than "The Kingdon of Cambodia"! Once through we caught a local bus to a little town called Kota Bharu and we found a great backpackers hostel right next door to the bus station. This was only a stop off town really as we were trying to head to the Perhentian Islands. It was a strict Muslim town with women covered up from head to toe so they looked at us as if we were aliens sent from another planet!

The hostel was great and we were able to chat to them and organise getting to the island with them the next day.

One noticeable difference between Thailand and Malaysia - lack of alcohol! In most places they dont even sell it and when they do it is soooo expensive. I feel a detox coming on!
