After a 5 hour drive north we finally reached my cousins house. Teresa was there to greet us, along with chewy the cocker spaniel. We enjoyed an evening reminiscing over old times a making comparisons to home, as you do.
The next day Chris kindly treated us to a trip out to Lake Sinclair, just over an hours drive from home. Chris picked up his new boys toy (speed boat) about a month ago and we were keen to try it out. Lake Sinclair has over 400 miles of shoreline this gave us plenty of room to do some tubing behind the speedboat. We had great fun I don't think we have ever laughed so much. We had a few mishaps which made the trip even more amusing. First Chris lowered the boat into the lake with the three of us aboard whilst he quickly pulled the truck and trailer back into the parking lot
All set now we went for a spin on the lake and then tied on the tube. We had our swim gear under our clothes, but in my haste I must have put my swim shorts on back to front, that gave them all a good laugh, my cord was hanging out above my bum and it looked like I'd grown a tail! Chris tried his best to dislodge me from the tube by doing large sweeping turns with the boat, but I just about managed to stay on, amazingly I didn't get sea sick! It sure was a bumpy ride though, and boy are we aching today. After the tubing we enjoyed a picnic whilst Chris did a spot of fishing. The fish weren't biting as it was too sunny but they were coming up to the float to enquire, and lets just put it this way had we seen how big these fish were with sharp teeth before the tubing we probably wouldn't have got in the water! Look up Alligator Gar and you'll know what I mean! All was going well until we decided to dock; Teresa thought she'd get off the boat and onto the jetty, let's just say if we had a video camera we could have made a few bucks selling it to the TV station
That evening Chris treated us to his culinary expertise, and true American barbecue, tender steak, big shrimps and hand caught Alaskan Salmon which Chris had personally caught on a past fishing trip he'd been on, and of course Teresa's expertly cooked sweet potatoes, which she nearly burnt the kitchen down cooking!
Any way all in all we had a great couple of days, thank you Chris & Teresa for being such perfect hosts. I'm sure Teresa was glad to see the back of me. Two days of me winding her up was as much as she could take J.
